This convo is with blogger and freelance writer Katie Rickert. Join us as we chat about one of her blog posts, "And." It hit me in all the feels so I just HAD to have her on the podcast.
Katie shares the inspiration behind her blog post. She encourages us all to remember that it's okay to be, know, feel two things at once. For example, I have a HUGE "fear of missing out" when it comes to my kids AND I also need a break on occasion to just be me and relish in caring for just me. I want my family to eat wholesome home-cooked meals AND I want to never cook again (If you are a personal chef that works for free...DM me STAT). Katie's post is much more eloquently explains, it's okay to be torn between two emotional realities, and when we embrace this conundrum we can live deeper, more rooted realities.
We also discuss the power that words have on the world. Words are a vastly prevalent source of information in our world. They live in our day to day convos, text messaging acronyms, digital readers, audiobooks, and speeches. I am encouraged by Katie to hold space for all the wonderful and sometimes hard ways that they show up. Katie is an avid reader and has an unparalleled love for books and the stories they hold, however, we consume them. Not only does she give us permission to have ANDs in our life but all her long-form writing is something to behold. Prepare your heartstrings to be tugged when you subscribe to her blog or hire her to write words that give life to your story.
