Today I am talking with Alexes Brown, the creator of Find + Flourish, a small hand lettering, feminine design and illustration business.
Although this incredible woman has always been inclined to create beauty, in this episode she is sharing a difficult part of her story that greatly impacted the creation of her beautiful business and continues to impact her family’s life. The story of the loss of her daughter is one that she is so brave to continue to talk about. One of extreme tragedy that brings beauty and hope to others.
We talk together about how it's difficult to find the right words to say to someone that is experiencing the loss of a loved one. Both for you as a supportive friend and for the one sitting with such a heavy grief.
We are not always comfortable being close to someone else’s grief. Not comfortable enough to say words that are meaningful anyway. And my dear friend graces us with some ideas for how to be there for someone in these times of unthinkable sadness.
The loss of a loved one, especially a child, does not get healed by time. However, it can become lighter to carry. Alexes embodies a beautiful bravery and grace in continuing to share her story. She honors her daughter’s memory and in doing so brings beauty, hope, peace and growth to others, like me and now you.
I am honored to know this woman who proves that we are all capable of doing hard things. The beauty creation business that Alexes is now running is an outpouring of her understanding that finding a small amount of peace after tragedy, even when it's hard, can create room for beauty, love and an ability to share hope with others.

Alexes Brown is the creative force behind Find + Flourish, a small business that focuses on hand lettering, feminine design and illustration. Ever since she was young she's had a design-inclined mind that loved to create, and had about a zillion hobbies ranging from photography to painting to paper crafts. She loves creating pretty things and giving life to others visions through her creative process. When she's not hand lettering or creating custom designs, you can find her walking the halls of Target with a soda in hand or at Home Depot gathering supplies for her next project! She's a mama to three busy little kiddos and one angel baby in heaven. Thank you so much for stopping by her little corner of the internet and I know you will love what you see!
Where to find Alexes:
Alexes believes that every great conversation requires vulnerability.
"Vulnerability, those are my favorite conversations. When people just get together and just share what's on their soul. When you can express how you are feeling you just grow so much." - Alexes Brown
